Computers

Computers. Yes, computers. What is so special about them? Many things are really interesting, but mostly the rate of innovation of technology surrounding new computational capabilities. There are talks of having computer equivalent of a human brain, which just boggles my mind. I was thinking to myself if it really is possible to accomplish that, is it really possible to recreate a complex human neuron network with computers. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that it does not really matter if it is possible or not. What matters is that it gave me a unique way of thinking about humans and our purpose on this planet.

Assumption

Let us assume that it is possible to develop a computer which matches a human mind. Number of curious questions arise. Would we treat that computer as another intelligent being? Would it understand that it exists solely because have created it? Would it think that we have enslaved it? Would it try and free itself? Would it regard us as God and their creators, because we essentially created them using our imagination. Would the knowledge that it is just a collection of electronic signals allow us to “kill it”? Would people fall in love with a artificial intelligence? How if at all that computer would different from us? Would we have the ability to say that we own them and that they should be our servants just because we created them or should they have free will? Would that machine be able to outsmart us and become more intelligent than us?

Analysis

Try asking yourself these questions and you will see what happens. I came to the realization we are nothing else but those same computers. What if some other intelligence created us as an experiment? And they have programmed us and created our hardware for us and just let the evolution take over. What if that is true? What makes us so different from a machine? After all, all the human does is take sensory information, process it and then react to it. That is what a computer essentially does according to the rules created by the programmer a.k.a the creator. Humans are governed by our genes and hormones and many other things, which are still just reactionary mechanisms which enable us to survive. Would those intelligent computers be just an attempt of humans to understand themselves how they themselves function? Let us ask us the same question. What you realize is that we are just TRULY an expression of Universe trying to understand itself.

Think About It

Once we know that are just programmed to be certain way, dose it really makes sense to worry about things, worry about anything? Because once you know you is really not you, then you become free. Think about it, sit down and think about deep and hard and you will come across a completely different way of thinking.
